In 2022, the number of charging piles in China will increase by nearly 100% year on year

In 2022, the number of charging infrastructure in China will reach 5.2 million, with a year-on-year increase of nearly 100%. Among them, the public charging infrastructure increased by about 650000 units, and the cumulative number reached 1.8 million units; The private charging infrastructure increased by about 1.9 million units, and the cumulative number exceeded 3.4 million units.

This was introduced by Liang Changxin, spokesman of the National Energy Administration, on the 13th. Charging infrastructure is an important guarantee to promote the development of the new energy vehicle industry, and is of great significance to promote the clean and low-carbon transformation of China's transportation sector. In recent years, China's charging infrastructure has developed rapidly and has built the world's largest and most widely distributed charging infrastructure network.

Liang Changxin said that China's charging market has shown a diversified development trend, with more than 3000 charging pile operators of various types. The charging capacity of electric vehicles continued to grow. In 2022, the annual charging capacity exceeded 40 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of more than 85% year on year.

He said that the technology and standard system of the industry was gradually maturing. The National Energy Administration has set up a technical committee for the standardization of electric vehicle charging facilities in the energy industry, established a charging infrastructure standard system with independent intellectual property rights in China, and issued 31 national standards and 26 industrial standards in total. China's DC charging standards are listed as the world's four major charging standard schemes along with Europe, the United States and Japan.

"At present, there are still problems such as unreasonable layout of public charging facilities, difficulty in building piles in some residential areas, nonstandard operation of charging market, and inadequate maintenance of facilities." Liang Changxin said that in the next step, the National Energy Administration will continue to strengthen the top-level design and policy coordination of charging infrastructure industry development with relevant departments, continue to optimize the planning and layout of charging network, and strive to solve the charging problem.
